Exercise 2-3D: Analyzing Humanities Genres

Imagine you would like to learn more about what students in the nineteenth century wrote at UNC. Conduct a search using the Southern Historical Collection’s digital resources here:

https://dc.lib.unc.edu/cdm/archivalhome/collection/00ddd. Then, choose one artifact that you would be interested in analyzing. This could be a photograph, a diary, a yearbook, a notebook, etc. 

For that artifact, use the DOCS chart to consider the design, organization, content, and style of that item. Then, share your responses with your group. How did your findings vary depending on the genre you located?
