Trade sources with a partner, and complete the “Survey” phase of the SQ3R technique for your partner’s source (described on p.125).  Then compare notes on your initial impressions of each other’s source and answer the following questions:
  • Did you and your partner have the same initial impressions of the sources?  What might account for any differences?
  • Did you both pinpoint the same main ideas in each source? What did your partner see that you missed or vice versa?
  • What additional questions did your partner have about the source?  How might considering these questions help you read the source more closely?  Why is conserving another reader’s questions valuable?
